Women & Child
Empowerment
Network

Overview

The Women & Child Empowerment Network (WCEN) is a flagship initiative of the Arullsamy Foundation that champions the empowerment of women and the protection of children in Sri Lanka’s plantation and rural regions.

In many communities, women still face economic marginalisation, lack of access to training, and social barriers to leadership. Children, too, struggle with malnutrition, poor education access, and unsafe environments.

WCEN works to change this reality by building a powerful network that uplifts women as leaders, protects children’s rights, and creates families and communities where equality, safety, and opportunity thrive together.

Empowering Women. Protecting Children. Strengthening Communities.

Our Goal

To ensure that every woman and every child — regardless of background — can live with safety, dignity, and opportunity, and that rural communities become centres of empowerment, not exclusion.

₨ 1 Million

Our Pilot Model

With ₨ 1 million, the Arullsamy Foundation can empower an entire community through targeted women’s and children’s development initiatives.

The pilot project includes:

  • Training for 50–60 womenin vocational and digital skills.
  • Scholarships and nutrition supportfor 50 children.
  • Community awareness sessionson gender equality and child rights.
  • Formation of a women & child committeeto sustain activities.

This model not only improves individual lives but strengthens the entire social fabric of a community.

When a child learns, a nation grows.

Empowering women and protecting children is not charity — it is the foundation of equality and progress.
