WASA
Water & Sanitationfor All
Overview
The Water & Sanitation for All (WASA) initiative by the Arullsamy Foundation is a life-changing programme dedicated to providing safe drinking water, proper sanitation, and hygiene awareness to communities that have long lived without them.
Across Sri Lanka’s plantation and rural regions, families still walk kilometres each day to fetch unsafe water. Schools lack proper toilets. Children fall sick from preventable diseases.
WASA brings hope and health by delivering clean water systems, sanitation facilities, and hygiene education right to these communities.
Because Every Family Deserves Clean Water and Dignity
Our Goal
To ensure that every person — regardless of where they live — has access to clean water and safe sanitation, promoting dignity, good health, and equal opportunity for all.
What We Do
Through the WASA initiative, the Arullsamy Foundation works hand-in-hand with local communities and partners to:
Install water wells, storage tanks, and filtration systems
to deliver safe drinking water.
Construct and upgrade sanitation facilities
in schools and households.
Conduct hygiene and menstrual health awareness sessions
to prevent disease and improve quality of life.
Train local “water committees”
to manage and maintain systems sustainably.
Lasting change
Every intervention combines practical infrastructure with education, ensuring the benefits last long after installation.
Our Pilot Model
With a focused budget of just ₨ 1 million, WASA can transform the health and dignity of an entire community.
The pilot covers:
- A community water systemserving 50–60 families.
- 3–4 sanitation unitsfor schools or public spaces.
- Hygiene workshopsfor students, parents, and community members.
- Training for local maintenance committeesand ongoing quality checks.
This small investment delivers long-term impact — clean water to drink, safe sanitation for families, and healthier lives for generations.
Every tap opened is a victory for equality and humanity.
Why It Matters
Clean water is not a luxury — it is a basic human right.
For many families in plantation and rural areas, the daily struggle for water defines life itself.
When donors support WASA, they are not simply funding infrastructure; they are restoring dignity, protecting children’s health, and empowering women who no longer have to carry heavy water pots for miles each day.
Every tap opened is a victory for equality and humanity.
How Donors Can Help
Corporate partners can join through CSR sponsorships, equipment donations, or by adopting entire communities under the WASA model.
Our Vision
The Arullsamy Foundation envisions a Sri Lanka where no child drinks unsafe water, no woman lacks sanitation, and no family is left behind in health and dignity.
Through Water & Sanitation for All, we are building communities that thrive in cleanliness, confidence, and care — one well, one family, one village at a time.
